Comparing the six weeks before the tournament with the six-week World Cup period, BETER recorded a 20% increase in turnover, 27% growth in active players, 18% growth in bet volume, and 24% growth in GGR.
A wider player audience drove that growth, not larger individual bets. Average stake increased by just 1.2%, while eFootball margin was 4.3% above BETER’s 2026 monthly average.
The 2×4 format was the biggest contributor to this growth, accounting for 70.6% of total eFootball turnover and recording a 32% increase in turnover during the World Cup period.
Overall, BETER delivered 48,000+ eFootball matches throughout the tournament, supported by dedicated World Cup competitions, expanded 24/7 coverage, enhanced broadcasts, and a dedicated marketing campaign.
The report highlights that the most significant growth across key metrics was recorded on a year-on-year basis.
The report also found that more than half of the players acquired during the World Cup remained active afterwards, highlighting the potential for major football events to generate longer-term eFootball engagement.

Adam Conway, General Manager of Esports Unit at BETER, said: “eFootball has a unique relationship with major football events. It helps operators extend their value by driving engagement, retention and revenue before, during and after the tournament. At the same time, events like the World Cup introduce a new audience to eFootball — and many of these players stay. Players discover a dynamic, action-packed product that continues to engage them long after the World Cup is over.
As a result, every major football event does more than create a temporary spike: it helps eFootball grow into an increasingly strong category in its own right, engaging players all year round. It is a genuine win-win: eFootball amplifies the value of major football events, while those events accelerate the long-term growth of eFootball itself.
eFootball continues to grow strongly, with bettors demonstrating that they are willing to engage with more eFootball content than ever before.”
